Natural carob is slightly sweet. When it gained popularity in the U.S., carob was touted as a chocolate substitute. Carob has a similar color to cocoa, but they have different flavors. Carob is delicious in its own right -- earthy with a caramel-like flavor. Although, some of our tasters said that our Sweetened Carob Chips taste a bit like chocolate. So you can be the judge! Since it doesn't contain caffeine, carob is a fantastic alternative to chocolate. Our Sweetened Carob Chips have a similar sweetness to common brands of chocolate chips.
