A Good product, but taste and cost hold it back.I purchase True Vitality as a meal replacement shake. I had been using various powders available from local stores but none of those are vegan and I wanted to give it a try. The taste took some real getting used to. The word Chocolate is more of a suggestion, the product has only a hint of coca powder. That said, I was otherwise impressed with the product. The vitamin content is excellent, and the product is vegan and soy free. It mixed well with water, would have liked to try it with almond milk but did not get the chance. It had a bit of sandiness to the shake and there was a definite dusty smell to the product. I was not trerribly impressed witht he size. I am used to drinking a double-sized shake, at that rate of consumption, a tub only lasted a week. I tried adding spenda, which helped, and once mixed it 1/2 and 1/2 with a soy powder, which improved the flavor, but adds soy. At the end of the week, I found I just drank it straight up with water. I probably would have been happier if the product was not labled "chocolate", had I expected an unflavored product, I would not have been surprised when I tried it.I may buy it again to use in coinjunction with another product.4Love it!I've never seen a protein powder that mixes so well. You can see the probiotics activating when they hit water and oxygen too. This stuff is legit, I found my new protein powder. Great amount of vitamins, minerals, probiotics, enzymes and just about everything else your body needs. I'm very happy to have found it, I can replace a lot of things with one powder.It literally dissolves to full liquid every time. No clumps, no clumpy bits stuck on the side or in the corner of the bottom of your glass. It's the best I've seen for that.It's also not packed full of sweeteners and doesn't taste particularly sweet. It doesn't taste bad to me, but my wife can't finish a glass. She says it will make her puke. She's exagerating, but again it's not sweet and doesn't have a "good" taste. It's one of those foods your body craves after you have it a few times, and sometimes I wake up at night and just want to drink some and I do and it doesn't upset my stomach.If you found this review helpful, please click Helpful below :)5Tasty treat that's enjoyable and healthy.Since having colon surgery a year ago, this has worked better for me than any other product. After being blasted with massive antibiotics after surgery I really needed the help in building up my gut and intestinal flora. In the beginning I drank it daily and have gone to 1-2 servings a week. I helps me maintain regularity, and keep my weight in check. I also take it when I have indigestion instead of antacids, and have had wonderful results. Love this product and have recommended it widely to friends and family. Chocolate flavor is great when paired with vanilla almond milk, and its amazing when blended with almond milk and a banana for those days when I really want something sweet.5Made a smoothy lover ot of me.I decided that I needed more protein in my diet, and needed to stop drinking coffee, so decided to try making smoothies in the mornings. I tried several different brands of protein powders I bought at a local nutrition store, which included True Vitality, which was being clearanced. I liked the taste and especially all the nutrients it has in it, including probiotics! I was getting it at a great price until they stopped selling it. Found it here on amazon for a few dollars more, but much less than others sell it for. I mix the 3 scoops with a cup of zero calorie juice mix, a tablespoon of flax and frozen strawberries in my magic bullet and start my days off with this now instead of coffee. I no longer miss my coffee (which I thought I could not live without!) and am now losing more weight and feeling more energized now. Very happy with the service I've gotten, as it is shipped out within a day or so. One tip I discovered: I take the scoop out and shake it up well. It fluffs it up nearly 50%5But it does not taste like it and it does not feel like it in ...Most protein powders are factory food. OK this is factory food too. But it does not taste like it and it does not feel like it in my body. I'm sure the probiotics and lots of green stuff helps. My kids don't like it but occasionally I sneak it in a smoothie and they don't notice. I love the taste. A bit chalky like ALL protein powders but pleasant vanilla. I mix it with fruit and sometimes even greens. The fact that it has probiotics and digestive enzymes undoubtedly makes us feel like a really healthy food in my guts. Is the kind of food that I want to thank a company for. So far I found nothing that could replace this.However the price has gone up and that's kind of upsetting. It now costs about two dollars a serving. And it is a big waste to have the container only about 2/3 full. I love the stuff that I'm gonna have to limit it.3The best nutritional shake out there!Short version:I LOVE this shake mix. Nutrition is my #1 priority and, after much trial and error, True Vitality is the shake mix I've chosen for my breakfast EVERY morning. It's extremely nutritious and it tastes pretty darn good. I buy the vanilla flavor.Long version:I'm a 20-some with Fibromyalgia. What's helped me more than any medication is eating well. I'm a vegetarian, mostly vegan, and I eat a very un-processed diet. So I spend a lot of time cooking and preparing very good-for-you meals. But, I need something quick and nutritious for breakfast that I could run out the door and head to work with.I tried JuicePlus, Amazing Meal, and Raw Meal, all of which are delicious, but very expensive. Stumbled upon True Vitality and decided to try it! It met all of my musts: lots of protein, soy free (won't throw off my hormones), dairy free, a lot of non-synthetic vitamins and minerals, probiotics and digestive enzymes (helps with my digestion issues), and it's low in sugars and carbs (both of which give me migraines when consumed in excess).I use two scoops instead of 3 (3 is the suggested serving size), just to make it last longer. I get about 20 shakes from one container this way and 2 scoops still tastes great and keeps me full.I mix 2 scoops with: a frozen banana; 2 handfuls of spinach; and some unsweetened, vanilla almond milk. Blend until smooth. It tastes like a banana-vanilla milk shake. You can't taste the spinach and it's really, very tasty. Keeps me full until lunch time.5Hate the "other" green meals? You'll love this!After trying and throwing out over half of "The Ultimate Life - The Ultimate Meal" and "Garden of Life Raw Organic Meal" I somehow convinced myself to still order this green food. After wasting over $100 on the other two products, it was the desire to lose some weight during these arctic temps that finally led me to order the Unflavored version of this product, and I am glad I did.I tried adding everything and anything to the other products (fruit, juice, used small amounts in smoothies), and I could barely swallow them. I am currently taking this Green Foods True Vitality, Unflavored, with vanilla almond milk and it is actually tasty!Although a full serving is three scoops, I am trying to use up some chocolate whey protein, so I usually take one scoop of True Vitality, with 1 scoop of chocolate whey (Optimum Nutrition), with Vanilla Almond milk (Blue Diamond or Silk). If I feel the need for an evening snack, this drink with two fiber pills and I am full for a couple of hours.I have lost 8 pounds over the last two weeks using this combo for two meals and my evening snacks, and just having one large regular meal per day. I am about to order the vanilla True Vitality to try it out.If you are wondering if you can really handle the taste of ANY green drink, try this before you give up. Just FYI, this container is only 14 regular servings. Since I am combining it, it is still lasting me about 2 weeks.I am feeling healthy and I am losing weight - a nice start to a cold 2014!5Feels Great - Highly RecommendAs an expert in natural health True Vitality has been my protein powder of choice for the past 10 years. I just wish I could get it on Subscribe and Save.5Best meal replacement shake I've triedBottom Line:Everyone's needs are different, but this product is for anyone who needs a quick office meal, a jolt of proteins when exercising, or is too busy to figure out if they're eating enough of the right things.------------------- My Story --I searched for a product to give me all the things I needed - proteins, omega 3s, great vitamin content, lots of greens, enzymes, probiotics - without having to spend my whole day in the kitchen. I transitioned to a mostly raw, vegetarian, grain free/dairy free diet. I was even juicing all sorts of veggies 3 times a day. But lately my life doesn't allow for that much time.I went to the health food store and tried the brands they offered, but I didn't especially like anything so when the container ran out I would try another brand. (My kids tried one of each - except the truly horrible tasting - and didn't like any of them.)Then I came across the True Vitality in a local shop and immediately recognized the Green Foods label from their barley grass juice powder. I bought it, made it and loved it. My kids love it. Even their grandfather has started using it - and he's pickier than the kids are. (Note: I typically drink it with water, but my kids take it with Dark Chocolate Almond Milk.)Key Benefits For Me:* Amount of green thingsI love that it has more green foods than I could get my kids to eat. My kids like when we juice kale, beets, etc., but it takes a *serious* time commitment and is impossible to maintain when traveling with children. With this, I know we are getting all of the phytonutrients and vitamins they'd get from juicing. We can still feel amazing and healthy even when the week is too hectic.* Vegan protein / no soyMilk bothers my daughter and soy isn't really good for small kids because of the phtyoestrogens. Also, the kids don't like the texture of a lot of meats. An egg has 6g of protein, deli meat has 2-3g per slice, but this has 15g of protein in 1 glass and they like it.* TextureIt's not gritty or too think or chunky but really smooth. Again, texture is really important to my kids.* Completeness of the nutrientsIt has the proteins, veggies, vitamins, omega 3s, enzymes, probiotics - everything we need from regular foods but, if we're honest, are not actually getting from the regular meals we eat.-----------------PS- To be sure there is no confusion, my kids are not on any sort of diet. Here's how my family uses it:* My kids will take a shake for basics - protein, greens, omega 3s and vitamins - then they also eat lots of produce throughout the day, coconut milk yogurts, chocolate almond milk, and they do still eat a fair amount of less-than-ideal foods... like bacon... or the toast I smell being made in the kitchen right now...* I take this, with water, and supplement between with fruit, veggies or salad throughout the day whenever I feel like it and feel awesome. I'm mainly vegetarian, raw foodist, gluten and dairy free, BUT I'm not legalistic about it; if I am visiting family or friends, I eat whatever they serve me.* My dad has been an insulin dependent diabetic for some time. He is taking these shakes, eating unlimited non-starchy veggies and some fruit, but having a dinner with meat and things at night. After only a week of shakes and produce, but still eating dinner, he took his blood sugar before dinner last night and it was 140 (pretty normal) and he said he has not taken insulin in the last few days. He'll be staying with this as his body heals.5
