Tastes much better than the Gatorade you buy in the storeI purchased this for my training for the NYC Marathon. I had read this is the sports drink offered during the race so I felt I should get used to it during my long runs. When I first started using this on my long runs (those over two hours) I noticed that this does not taste like the Gatorade readily available at the supermarket, 7-11 or athletic fields which is a good thing. This mixture is much less sweeter and has what I would describe as a salty or minerally taste along with the Lemon Lime flavor. I actually enjoy the taste to the point that I won't drink regular Gatorade anymore. I can't speak to the endurance benefits other than between this sports drink and GU gels I'm running farther than I ever have.5Works for MeAlthough I'm not a Gatorade drinker, this is what they are going to be serving at the NYC Marathon and I had to get my stomach ready and make sure there were no adverse effect. I'm about half way through the container and have been taking it on my long runs of 15+. I am happy to report that is hasn't caused any stomach issues. The flavor is as expected, it's lemon lime Gatorade, and it's easy to mix. I have no complaints at all and am happy with both the potassium and sodium this product provides.5Possible to dissolve in water - see suggestionsUPDATE One Month Later - change of heart...I wrote a pretty negative review of the new GE formula powder a month ago. I have it two stars based on the first container I bought of the new improved formula after many years of consuming quite a lot of the previous version. I really didn't like it at all. Gatorade reached out to me as a result of the review which is always appreciated of a manufacturer, however I have not responded to them yet so this update has not been influenced by them.I have now used five 32oz containers of the new GE formula powder in both Orange and Lime flavor, we have bought some from Amazon here and some directly from Gatorade. My update is as follows:(1) The color is certainly a lot lighter than the previous version. It is a white powder in the container but when mixed it does have a faint orange (or lime) color to it. Not a major observation but an update all the same.(2) The flavor is a lot more subtle for sure but does grow on you so give it some time. I would acknowledge now that it is possible to get used to the flavor and once used to it, is actually very difficult to go back to the old formula which suddenly tastes strongly artificial and overpowering. I have been using the new formula on back-to-back 120mile rides on successive weekend days and find is is a lot more palatable to consumer GE throughout without resorting to alternating with water to offset the strong taste.(3) Ah, the mixing in water thing. Quite a few other reviews since I wrote that a month ago have also commented on the fact that this new product seems to clump up and not dissolve properly. That was certainly my initial experience. Now I would say that if you put the scoops of powder in your mixing bottle bottle, lightly swirl the bottle as you fill it from the faucet, then once filled cap it and shake it vigorously for a few seconds, it appears to dissolve well enough. I think it is possible that my first container (or two) of new formula GE had an issue because I can assure you it clumped like crazy and would not dissolve at all. The later containers have dissolved better. So, I am revising my 2 star review to a 4 star review with an acknowledgement that the new formula, now that the clumping appears to be fixed, is a nice extension of the GE range.I will add one new observation which has become very apparent. The new formula is clearly a powder and not a granulated product like the old one. This means (a) there is a degree of powder that gets into the air as you fill the bottles and (b) each scoop potentially contains a higher weight of formula than the previous version since a powder by volume will weigh more than granules. I say this because we have seen our consumption of new GE increase significantly since the new formula has been introduced. This cannot be because we are consuming more (we know that for a fact) so can only be that we are getting less bottles of diluted GE than previously because more weight of powder goes into every scoop.Hope this update has been useful, original and unedited review below. We consume probably 4-6 containers of Gatorade every Tri season for IM training rides. I have got used to the 'classic' and unmistakable flavor of the Orange and the Lime powder mixed Endurance Formulas. The new formula that is listed here and launched recently (?) has three key differences (aside from any composition differences):(1) It does not have an orange or lime color to it any more. The powder is white, regardless of flavor (haven't tried cherry). So OK, I get that this is completely synthetic and the colorant is probably unnecessary but at least when I mix orange gatorade in my bike bottles it at least looks like orange. Not a huge issue on its own so lets move to the next point:(2) It tastes very dull and not pleasant to consume in quantity. I cannot describe it any other way. It tastes like the drink you are given to mix and drink a gallon of when you need to have a colon medical exam or similar. OK so you can drink it down but it doesn't have a pleasant flavor at all. When you are doing century training rides at some point you are going to get sick of whatever flavor drink/gels/bars you are putting into your system, but at least they can taste reasonably good for the first few hours. This new formula tastes pretty awful from the first mouthful.(3) - and this is the worst issue by far - it doesn't mix easily in water. Yes, I'll repeat that as it was a huge surprise to us too. This new formula seems to have difficulty dissolving in water. So when you mix your bottles and head out on your training ride, at some point you are going to get a mouth full of lumps of undissolved powder. Which, taking into consideration point (2) above, tastes bad anyway. Its not an enjoyable experience at all. The only solution we have found is to keep shaking it like crazy when you mix it, like 10X more effort than with the old formula. And then, later as you drink the bottle down, keep shaking it even more and hope you don't get a mouthful of a powder lump.I am sure there is a good reason for the change and the marketing will never use terminology such as 'lower production cost' or 'easier to manufacture' but this user (and his wife) have gone from being huge fans of Gatorade Endurance Formula powder to being completely switched off by it.To finish more positively, the premixed bottles of GE at Ironman events continue to be awesome and have not had these changes applied.4Chemical GarbageIf I could have a support stop team for my IronMan I would have Coconut Water and my own homemade energy bars for strategic fueling. The races are so wrapped up serving this garbage that I feel I am forced to get my body adjusted to this chemical junk just so I can perform without depleting electrolytes and continue fueling in the races... If you are not doing endurance supports or an event that is exclusive Gatorade, stay away from this. There are natural products that deliver cleaner sugars and natural electrolytes at very similar levels.1Much prefer over original, mixing is an artI do Tri s and live in the Texas heat so this and the electro. packets are big on my list. This Gatorade is great, and although I prefer the lemon lime, I prefer the orange price as this can get costly. When mixing, just don t mix with cold water and use luke warm or even warm is better and easier. That may not be ideal for everyone, but I just fill my bottle half way, let it sit on the counter while I dress or get my gels and stuff ready and then come back, drop in 3 scoops slowly (slowly, otherwise you lose powder into the air), put on cap and shake vigorously. I then continue getting truck ready with bike or whatever, come back, fill bottle the rest of the way up and I m good to go. Or just do it the night before. This formula used to stain real bad, but I think they have dropped some of the carotene out of it. For me, I like the lack of sugar and the endurance aspect of it. Normal GA upsets my stomach but this one doesn t. Either way, when consuming large amounts of any liquid like this, adjusting can take time.5NEW FORMULA - Doesn t mix well and stains my bottlesI purchased this in September 2017 and it says New Formula . My previous purchase was roughly March 2017 and it was apparently the old formula.Just like my title and other reviewers have said, this formula doesn t mix well and it stains my bottles. You can shake this as vigorously as you want, but even after a couple hours of bouncing around on the bike, there s still giant clumps of un-mixed powder at the bottom of the bottle. And a have a bunch of clear bottles that I ve been using for several years now, and they ve stayed clear the entire time. But after a few weeks with this powder those same bottles are already staining orange.Clearly Gatorade needs to develop a NEW new formula.1Ruined a formerly great productThrough 15 years of loyal use, orange Gatorade powder was my most effective and palatable sports drink.I recently ordered three canisters of powdered mix, but the new formula is nothing like Gatorade. Instead of just adding some electrolytes to their tried-and-true formula, Gatorade completely redesigned their product, and the resulting new formula is simply unusable. The fine powder doesn't mix in water, has neither orange coloring nor flavoring, and tastes like a moldy sack of burnt plastic.I got around the mixing issue by making up large batches ahead of time, then vigorously shaking the container every time I went into the fridge. It usually dissolved in water after about 48 hours. But that did nothing to improve the taste. Whereas the old formula was easy to drink, the new product's unflavored chemical taste discourages me from drinking it even during an intense workout. For those reasons, I've mostly replaced Gatorade with other products or diluted orange juice. Now I ve got $70 worth of it sitting unused in the back of a cupboard. Does anyone have any leftover cans of the old formula?1Perfect drink, but Amazon ships stuff with short shelve live (be careful with this!)The SAME stuff you get when you go and run a marathon. This is a no brainer. I only use this when I run 1 hour or more, though. Great stuff. Totally worth every penny.BE MINDFUL, this is a big container, and it DOES expire. Mine was ordered in Jan 2016 and it expires in 6 months, so I would probably buy this at the store and make sure it expires in 1 year or 2, because there is no way I can drink this whole thing in 6 months. This is a negative ON Amazon, but not on Gatorade, thus 5 stars.5It works fine in the electrolyte aspect but the problem is that ...The new formula is awful. It works fine in the electrolyte aspect but the problem is that is clumps badly when trying to mix. The other formula did not do this. I have tried it with room temp water and putting water in first then shaking. I have tried it putting the mix in first then the water and shaking. If you mix this with cold water or iced water you are screwed. I have tried with half full bottles and adding the mix and that doesn't work either, you end up with huge clumps of your important hydration and not able to use it. Since this is what is served on IM aid stations this sucks because I trained with this and now I have to find another hydration that works and carry my own stuff in IM races. I am saying this is not good for me specifically since this is a hydration that worked in my gut and was served on the course. Meant I did not have to carry more weight.1Dissolves Slow But It Does Dissolve . . .This gives a noticeable improvement on my hiking stamina. I had been hitting the wall at 4.5 hours but with this I went 6.5 hours hiking up and down trails training for backpacking. Others have said that it did not dissolve all the way and I started to think they were correct. In a gallon jug with 1.25 cups there was a tablespoon or so that was stuck to the bottom so I had to shake it vigorously and then it settle to the bottom again but less . . . did this three times and then left it to sit 3 hours and it was all dissolved (see photo's) so make it the night before if you want it all dissolved first thing in the morning. I use it in 1L smart bottles and it does not stain . . . I like this orange flavor - never liked lemon lime. This tastes more like the original Gatorade tasted like 30+ years ago before PepsiCo added more sugars to make it "popular" so that everyone would drink it.5
