Just a good transport chairI've been using this chair to transport a family member to medical appointments for 6 months at the time of this review. The chair has held up well, feels solid. The turning radius is good. It takes cracks / bumps in the sidewalk well. My family member thought the seat was somewhat uncomfortable, but a gel cushion has made it comfortable for longer periods. The foot rests were able to be adjusted easily. It is 50 pounds, which is about as much as I want to have to lift into a van. If I got to make one suggestion for improvement, it would be to make the pocket behind the seat a little larger.5Potentially life changing purchase for better mobilityReceived the wheelchair today, many thanks to the folks at VetMed USA for correcting a shipping problem very promptly even though it happened on the busy Thanksgiving weekend. My mom has been unable to walk for 18 years so I think I'm well versed in the pros/cons of different equipment. I'm very impressed with the quality and craftsmanship. Very well built and sturdy yet lightweight and it folds up compactly. It rolls very easily whether empty or with mom in it. The leg rests have more adjustment and are easier to remove and install than those of any chair she's had. The chair will easily accommodate the weight it's rated for; I weigh 307 pounds and I had plenty of room to spare. She's says it's very comfortable too. The house was built in 1953 and not to meet A.D.A. standards of today but this chair fits through every doorway and hall. This chair will make my mom's life a lot easier as well as those of us who take her out. She had become reluctant to leave her home because she thought it was too much trouble for us lugging her old full size chair in and out of the car. This is much lighter and compact yet sturdier and feels safer too. Great chair for the price5Large and Sturdy - Easily PushedMy husband is 5'6" and weighs 340 lbs. so he is a big man. It was purchased to assist him when he goes to the doctor and has difficulty using his walker and gets quickly out of energy walking the long corridors. This chair works very well for him and, even at 76, I'm able to push him easily. The chair does weigh 45 lbs but I was able to get it in and out of the trunk without a lot of difficulty. The foot pads are adjustable to fit shorter or longer legs and are easily removed and reattached for storage between uses. Although it is meant to be pushed, a person with long enough legs could propel himself by using his feet if he is able. We are pleased to have found it at such a reasonable price.5This saved my vacationI recently took a fall and injured my knee, requiring me to painfully walk with a cane. We had plans to go to the San Francisco Park and the Zoo on our vacation. No way could I do that much walking now. My husband offered to wheel me around as much as needed.I ordered this transport chair and Amazon got it to my home in just a few days. It is wide and comfortable, able to hold considerable weight. It is easy to push and folds up nicely for storage. I would push it as a walker as much as possible and my husband took over pushing me when I got tired. We had a great vacation because of the transport chair. We even used it to lug our cooler from the car to the hotel room. It even came in handy as an extra chair to sit in and watch television in the hotel room.I would definitely recommend buying this transport chair.5Definitely worth the money.I didn't want the hassle of renting a wheelchair, knowing I would be non-weight bearing for about two months after my ankle surgery. I was looking for a quality chair without having to spend a fortune. After researching several chairs, I chose the Red, 22" Bariatric Transport Chair 'knowing' I would have someone to push me around all the time. My expected two months has turned into eleven, my husband & teenage children are always 'hotrodding' me around, they are not the gentlest when loading it in and out of the vehicles and I don't always have someone to push me around. This cheaper in price is definitely not cheaper in value. It has held up through more than normal wear & tear. Sure, I have all kinds of dings, chips & scratches in the sparkly red paint, I've lost or cracked all but one or two of the black caps, the right arm rest got caught on the tailgate, got cracked in half & broke off.The nylon fabric has held up fantastically, including the handles used to fold up the chair, the grips are still intact, and the wheels are in good condition. The arm rests are easy to remove when not needed and it's not too heavy. If I can get a replacement for the piece that broke, and tighten up a few screws & bolts, there is no reason the chair won't last longer. I think the weight max is either 400 or 450. I weighed 300 when I first had my surgery, & it worked fine. I am now down below 250, and I have plenty of room in the 22" chair.5STURDY! But heavier than expected, sits UP higherMom has been using the red Drive Transport Chair around house (stroke) for 4 years happily. Brakes needed constant attention, though, so from info and reviews we purchased this as a sturdier upgrade. It definitely is that, and we are happy with it BUT we did not expect it to be as heavy as it is -- not sure I could lift it into back of SUV myself now. Also, it sits higher by a good amount, and we are still using it with care, since she "scoots" along and she has to come more forward in it. We just ordered a lower profile pad than we had, that might help. In short, we are happy with the product -- sturdy and strong, but weren't expecting it to be quite as heavy as it is, and it sits quite a bit higher.4... the heavy side high 200s and this chair was perfect for himMy dad is a bit on the heavy side high 200s and this chair was perfect for him. We used this to get him to and from his doctor appointments. Keep in mind the chair is on the wider side and may be difficult to get through narrow door ways. Their home has standard sized doorways and found the fit to be tight, but manageable. The chair is quite heavy as you can imagine, but I'm 5'2" and 115lbs and I was able to lift it into the vehicle when not in use, the hardest part was lifting it into the back of the SUV since I'm so short, but it can be done.5Fits through a standard door framePurchased this wheel chair for indoor use only since I have a heavy duty chair for outside. Very happy with this. It is light weight and easy to maneuver. I chose this chair because I could not get my heavy duty wheel chair through the bedroom doors. Purchased this because it would fit a standard door opening. It does fit through a standard door opening but I failed to measure the bathroom door which was slightly more narrow than the bedroom doors. Hence, I cannot get it through the bathroom door. However, all is not lost since I just roll it up to the bathroom door and and use a walker the rest of the way. Never anticipated the bathroom door was more narrow.If you are looking for a lightweight chair capable of fitting through a standard door, this will work for you. If you want to have a more leeway through the door, then do not purchase the bariatric size. I think had I not purchase the bariatric size, the smaller size would fit through the bathroom door. Live and learn.Happy with purchase.5Life changer!This was a great buy. The price can't be beat. I bought a heavy duty one because it was taller. The people pushing me are tall and it's much more convent for them and me. Seat is extra wide. I read the reviews about problems with foot petals. They are plastic. They are meant to rest your feet lightly not apply weight or pressure. I have had it 6 weeks and no problems at all. This is a transport only chair. IIt weighs 50 I s and my daughter in law can load and unload it. It has really enhanced my life.5
