Originally cultivated in Central America, from Mexico to Peru, Bolivia and Argentina. The smaller beans are thought to have been cultivated in Mexico as long as 7,000 years ago, while the larger beans were cultivated in Peru starting 8,000 years ago! Black Valentine beans are string-less in all stages, the young snap beans are slender, almost round, and rich with flavor. Black Valentine Beans are a bush variety of bean, but because the plant grows up 18 inches tall, some like to grow it as a pole variety. High in protein, easy to grow, dry and cook, they have been a favorite of mankind for thousands of years! A wonderful addition to any garden and kitchen!
